But after the passing of his wife, Kat, grief silenced the creative spark that once fueled his art. In that long valley, God gently redirected Rick’s calling, leading him to discover the power of storytelling through writing. What began as a season of loss became the foundation for Paint 2 Words — a ministry where art, story, and faith intersect to offer hope for those navigating their own difficult journeys.
Today, Rick continues to blend visual and written storytelling as the author of multiple projects, including his debut book Warning Signs: A Journey of Faith in a Dangerous World, his allegorical novel Treasures in the Darkness, the upcoming novel Rooted in Grace, …and two Life Group Bible study series: The Narrow Road — Walking Together Where Christ Leads and Life is Found, and Rooted in Grace — Growing Strong in Every Season of Life.
As a pastor and grief support leader, Rick carries a shepherd’s heart for those facing life’s storms. His writing reflects themes of healing, redemption, and the deep, sustaining grace of God that carries us home.
Through Paint 2 Words, Rick invites readers into a place where stories are painted — sometimes with brush, sometimes with pen — sometimes both — to remind each of us that God’s hand is at work, composing beauty on the canvas of every heart.
